I know what it is to be physically strong; I have done many things in my life where my physical and mental strength has been of great importance. But I have never known what it is like to have the kind of physical and mental strength required by the sufferers and survivors in the PaddlersforLife group. These ladies and gentlemen have had to be strong not through choice as I have but because of what life has dealt them. When I am in a race or being pushed physically to the limit by a challenge I think of my mum surviving breast cancer. I think of what a strong woman she is to have mothered 3 children and to have such inner strength to deal with what life throws at her. She is a rod in our family that is an inspiration. This makes me carry on and try my hardest. I think of Sam a friend who died at 21 of skin cancer and his strength to continue biking and living life even after he was terminally diagnosed. I think of all my dear friends who have lost their lives due to severe illness and the strength it has taken for their family’s to continue living life to the full. I want to challenge myself in this life; I want to get the most out of it. This challenge is about raising money to help a group of people who welcome others with open arms to their organisation. They offer support, camaraderie, exercise, laughs, competition a feeling of freedom and strength. This helps them enjoy a better quality of life through the things they personally gain from being a part of this wonderful inspirational group who are paddlersforlife
